EPOLOCK 1100
Product Properties
- “Non-Sag/Thixotropic Formula: This key feature allows for the application of the product on vertical surfaces, ceilings, and even under-ceiling (overhead) without the worry of sagging or running.
- Unparalleled Resistance to Moisture and Temperature: The epoxy formulation ensures that adhesion remains stable under freeze-thaw cycles, high humidity, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
- Exceptional Adhesion: Superior adhesion to a wide range of materials including various natural stones (granite, marble, travertine), concrete, ceramics, metals (steel, aluminum), and composite materials.
- Minimal Shrinkage During Curing: Unlike cementitious mortars that may shrink during drying, EPOLOCK1100 maintains its structure and minimizes internal stresses. This is crucial for connecting prefabricated elements.
- High Durability and Dimensional Stability: Resistance to abrasion, impact, and long-term mechanical stresses.
- Advanced Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to common chemicals in industrial and urban environments, including weak acids, alkalis, salts (such as de-icing salts) and some fuels.
- Easy and Controlled Application: Using a spatula or trowel, it allows for the creation of a precise and uniform bond, especially in facade construction and installation of heavy slabs.
Description
For civil engineering application
“EPOLOCK 1100 is a versatile product in the construction sector and can replace traditional mortars in the following applications:
- Stone Installation (Stone-to-Stone / Stone-to-Concrete): Installing heavy natural and artificial stones (granite, marble, travertine) in interior and exterior facades.
- Metal Bonding (Stone and Ceramic to Metal): Directly bonding stone and ceramic sheets to metal substrates (steel, aluminum) in dry facades and interior design, replacing mechanical connections.
- Ceramic and Tile Applications (Ceramic-to-Ceramic): Installing, tiling, and constructing monolithic ceramic pieces (such as sinks) in wet environments like swimming pools and industrial kitchens.
- Wood and Decoration Industries (Wood/MDF to Stone/Ceramic): Connecting wooden, MDF, and decorative elements to stone and ceramic surfaces for modern tables, countertops, and interior decorations.
- Installation of Thin Elements and Precise Parts: Stabilizing cornices, decorative frames, and hand-cut stones that require a clean and secure connection.
- Concrete Repair: Filling deep cracks and cavities in concrete with a material that has a higher strength than the concrete itself, ideal for structural repairs.
- Prefabricated Component Connections: Using it as a bonding mortar for installing prefabricated concrete elements, beams, and columns.
Mixing the Components
Each adhesive component is inherently adhesive-less, and bonding only occurs after the complete mixing of components A and B. Place an equal amount of each component on a flat surface (clean stone or ceramic) and mix with a spatula or mechanical mixer at low speed for at least 2 minutes until the color is completely uniform. Avoid dipping the contaminated spatula from component A into component B to prevent unwanted reactions. At temperatures below 10°C, bring both components to room temperature (20-25°C) before mixing to facilitate easier mixing.
Application and Activation of the Adhesive
After mixing, apply the adhesive within its usable time window to the desired surface. For stone installation, use the pyramid-shaped wedge method: Place the wedges approximately 30 to 40 centimeters apart in a pyramid shape on the stone surface, ensuring at least 10% of the back surface of the stone is covered with adhesive. For square stones, four wedges are placed in the corners and one wedge in the center, and for elongated stones, an additional wedge is placed in the middle between each four wedges. The thickness of the adhesive wedges should be between 3 and 25 millimeters.
Important Execution Notes
- Maintain a minimum of 2 millimeters of space between the stones to prevent cracking due to thermal expansion.
- The substrate surface must be mechanically robust to withstand the weight of the stone.
- For installing metal plant scopes onto stone in mortar and cement systems, EPOLOCK 1100 replaces stone cutting and increases the connection factor.
EPOLOCK 1100 is a new generation of construction epoxy adhesives designed with a focus on structural performance, environmental durability, and ease of application. This product, with its high bonding strength, mechanical durability on concrete surfaces, and global thermal resistance, covers all technical requirements for stone installation projects, luxurious facade execution, and precise structural repairs.
